Have you ever met one of those extreme parents who just freak out on you because you do things differently with your own children? Ugh!
Schuyler and I think that vaccinations are important. They are there for a reason and after much research, we have decided to vaccincate our children. We also decided that we'd delay most of the vaccine's till around 15 - 18 months with them getting one or two shots at each well baby visit so as not to get too behind. (and to diminish the amount of vax's given after age 1).
Okay, so at Eliza's 4 month check up, we did not get her any vax's because somehow tricare got all screwy and then we didn't get them at 6 months because her ped's office never faxed over the right shot record so she's technically "behind" on her shots. Well, long story short, my sister in law, D, about had a cow because she was late and "how are we going to get her enrolled in school if she's not up to date on her vaccinations?" Umm. ... Eliza doesn't start school for at LEAST 4 years! (technically 3 1/2 but who's really counting?) Ya think she won't be caught up by then? She says things like that and then you think she just went crazy. With her second child, she was afraid of taking her out after a week (to take her older child to school) because she didn't have any vaccinations. Apparently she thinks you can't catch something horrid like a cold if you don't have any vax. She's a firm believer of vax's, which is fine by us because we are too, just not to such an extreme. If our kids don't get their vax's according to the "correct timeline" we're not worried about it because we know that they'll get them eventually.
Anyhow, I should get to bed. Good night!
